Abstract
There is accumulating evidence to support the role of specific antibiotic classes as risk factors for selecting meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Crucially, however, controlled studies of antimicrobial prescribing interventions are lacking. The evidence for the association between antimicrobial prescribing and expansion of MRSA is reviewed here. Keywords
