Abstract
Certain fractions as well as glycosidic and parent alkamine alkaloid preparations derived from the plant Veratrum califomicum were shown to produce ovine fetal cyclopia. Other Veratrum preparations were also tested for teratogenicity. A mechanism for the teratogenic effect is postulated. Keywords
