Gas Chromatography/Matrix Isolation/Infrared Spectroscopy: An Evaluation of the Performance Potential

Abstract
The performance potential of a matrix-isolation GC/IR system is evaluated. The discussion covers design objectives, components, and the ultimate performance which should be achievable. Improved design of sample-deposition systems should lead to identifiable IR spectra from nanogram amounts of organic compounds collected from capillary column gas chromatographs.
