Abstract
A detailed re‐analysis has been made of the equations first derived by Kröner and Keller which give exact expressions for the stress field of a circular‐glide dislocation in an infinite isotropic material. A number of important errors in these equations have been corrected and the resulting complex expressions solved using a digital computer. The stress fields obtained therefrom have been plotted for various important planar sections passing through the origin of the loop. In addition, a similar treatment has been made pertaining to the interaction energy between a pair of coaxial circular‐glide dislocation loops of differing radii but same Burgers vector in an isotropic material. These results show a profound difference between the properites of dislocation loops and those associated with infinite straight dislocations. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
