Abstract
The self-energy of a polaron in general n dimensions is calculated with the use of a dispersion-theory approach. Our result agrees with the result of Peeters et al. up to order α, the Fröhlich coupling constant. We also obtain the general expression for the effective mass in n dimensions. As expected, the polaronic effects become negligible as the dimensions of the space increase. Keywords
