Penicillin in the Treatment of Bronchiectasis

Abstract
REPORTS on the use of penicillin in the treatment of pleural and pulmonary suppurative conditions are appearing in increasing numbers. A favorable response has been achieved in acute pneumonitis1 2 3 4 and pulmonary abscess.2 , 3 The best effects have been obtained in infections caused by streptococci, staphylococci, pneumococci and actinomyces, and the poorest in those with mixed anaerobic bacteria. These cases were treated by intravenous or intramuscular administration of the drug.
