Abstract
A series of amino acids reacts with azophenylcyanate in dioxane to give easily crystallizable p-phenylazophenylureido acids (p-phenylazoanilinoformyl amino acids) of orange-yellow color. Alkaline solns. of such derivatives prepared from equivalent amts. of 18 amino acids (including the 2 imino acids) gave the same color intensity.
