WEGENER'S GRANULOMATOSIS

Abstract
A classical case of Wegener''s granulomatosis is described. The clinical course included severe rhinitis and sinusitis, nodular infiltrates in the lungs and rapid progressive renal failure, accompanied by arthritis, subconjunctival hemorrhage and signs of pulmonary and cardiac failure. The pathologic findings consisted of necrotizing granulomatous lesions involving the nasal sinuses, lungs, kidneys, myocardium and ovary, and diffuse glomerulitis. The syndrome is differentiated from periarteritis nodosa, hypersensitivity angiitis and allergic granulomatous angiitis.
