Abstract
ACTH (2 I. U/day/kg of body weight) decreased the phagocytic activity of macrophages obtained from pleural exudates. There was a further decrease when ACTH administration was stopped. This influence of ACTH is exerted on the macrophage itself and not on the phagocytic-promoting factors present in the serum. Keywords
