Abstract
Despite their actual achievements, some successful people believe their abilities have been overestimated and that they will eventually be unmasked as impostors. This paper focuses on the "impostor phenomenon" as a useful concept guiding clinical research and practice. Factors which foster and hinder the development and maintenance of impostor feelings are discussed, along with strategies for psychotherapeutic intervention. Keywords
