Abstract
The effect of normal methylation procedures upon tissue was reexamined. It was demonstrated that the methyl alcohol and HCl prevent the oxidative destruction of amines by either chloramine T or nitrous acid while effecting in no way their salt forming properties. It was shown that the ethyl chloride in methanol will give much the same effect. The authors conclude that methylation at higher temperatures alkylates amines. Keywords
