Treatment of Hyperthyroidism With Sodium Iodide I 131

Abstract
A 38-year-old woman had papillary carcinoma of the thyroid when surgery for adenomatous goiter was performed 20 years after treatment of hyperthyroidism with sodium iodide I 131. To our knowledge, this is the ninth reported case of microscopically proved cancer following such therapy, and it is the one with the longest interval since treatment.
