On the basis of recent field studies the Silurian stratigraphy of the Pointe Verte area, New Brunswick, is revised. Three new formation names are proposed and type sections designated. These are the Armstrong Brook Fm., the Limestone Point Fm., and the Petit Rocher Fm., which are described and their stratigraphic relationships with other formations established. Facies relationships among all the Silurian formations are considered, allowing preliminary conclusions to be drawn on the depositional history and paleogeography of the area. Rapid lateral and vertical changes in facies are related to basin instability and to changes in paleogeography, especially about Llandovery C4–C5 time.
