Abstract
The synthesis of a series of purine analogs of the acyclonucleoside A* (A-Star, 1) is described. Compounds in this series have pronounced activity against herpesviruses and were designated the glycerosides. The glyceropurines are described in this report. Nucleotides were constructed containing glyceroadenine (1). These nucleotides were resistant to degradation by phosphodiesterases. A* was a poor substrate and a poor inhibitor of adenosine deaminase. This publication has 10 references indexed in Scilit:
