Abstract
The carbon , fluorine , and chlorine spectra are presented for the chlorinated methanes (CCl4, CHCl3, CH2Cl2, CH3Cl) and fluorochloromethanes (CFCl3, CF2Cl2, CF3Cl, CHFCl2, CHF2Cl). Comparisons are made with the spectra of methane and carbon tetrafluoride. Multiplet structure is observed in every case. The position and intensity of the various lines is dependent on the type and number of halogens present in the molecule.
