Abstract
Many approaches can be taken to monitor the disease status of herds. Inspection at packing houses performed routinely on selected animals has long been an important addition to health monitoring in swine and poultry. Prior to 1980, routine beef cattle inspections were typically limited to monitoring liver abscesses. This paper describes the technique of conducting a routine health management inspection in a modern packing plant. This technique has evolved over the past decade. Keywords
