Abstract
Three conulariid species are described from the middle and late Permian of New Zealand. Two are assigned to the genus Paraconularia — P. derwentensis (Johnston) from Kungurian beds, a species known also from beds of comparable age in Tasmania and Queensland, and P. ornata n.sp. of Punjabian age. An indeterminate conulariid is recorded from the late Permian. Specimens are also described from the middle Triassic (Carnian) and late Triassic (Rhaetian) faunas of New Zealand, as a new species Paraconularia matauraensis n.sp., Flectoconularia abapertura n.gen., n.sp., and an indeterminate fragment. It is observed that specimens were attached in clumps and that during the Permian Period they exhibited a marked preference for cold to cool-temperate waters. Keywords
