Abstract
It is shown that for very large values of the rotational quantum number the energy of interaction of the electric quadrupole moments of a homonuclear diatomic molecule may be expressed as the sum of the energies of states of the single nucleus problem. This approximation becomes less accurate for any value as the applied magnetic field is decreased.
