Geriatric Education in a Family Practice Residency Program-An Interdisciplinary Health-Care Team Approach

Abstract
A program was designed to extend the experience of residents and medical students rotating through the Family Practice Center in the care of older patients. This educational experience was based on a group of representative geriatric cases at a nursing home and included para-medical personnel in both the service and educational elements. Evaluation, given some substantial changes, suggested strong support for the project particularly with respect to the opportunity provided for student and resident to practice an interdisciplinary health care team approach.
