A Water‐Complexed Organolithium Compound: [LiCH(CN)2 · H2O · TMEDA]

Abstract
Not the bidentate amine ligand, but water coordinates to the Li cation in [LiCH(CN)2 · H2O · TMEDA] 1 (TMEDA = tetramethylethylenediamine), a very unusual structural characteristic for lithiated organic compounds. Inter‐molecular hydrogen bonds between the H atoms of the aqua ligands and the N atoms of TMEDA are observed. 1 is therefore the first water‐complexed lithiated organic compound derived from a CH acid.
