Abstract
I Published (17) in 1924 certain observations on the rate of oxygen consumption of parts (head and tail portions) of chick embryos and of earthworms. The manometer method was employed. I concluded that these results apparently supported the previous work of Hyman (7), and Hyman and Galigher (8) on Annelids and Planarians, which were based on Winkler’s method of titration. The head portions of the embryos and earthworms, for equal quantities of living tissue, had always a relatively greater uptake of oxygen than the corresponding tail portions. Keywords
