Abstract
Fifteen identified and 58 unidentified clostridia were found in a total of 110 cases of clostridial myositis resulting from war injuries in Italy. In the majority of cases, more than two species of anaerobes were found. Those most frequently encountered were C. sporogenes, C. bifermentans, C. perfringens and C. novyi. There appears to be little relation between toxigenicity and invasiveness. Keywords
