Abstract
Experiments were conducted on rats relating net protein utilization values to caloric intake in diets adequate in all other respects, and effects of different dietary protein levels studied. Net dietary protein value (NDPV) required for maintenance was 4% of the total calories and percentage of protein calories for maintenance diets Pm = (400/score) where the score is a satisfactory estimation of net protein utilization. In diets where the NDPV is more than 4% of to calories (i.e. where score x P>4) the equation relating NDPV at different protein levels is: [image] (54-P) where P is percentage of protein calories in the diet. Keywords
