Abstract
The usage of adaptive antenna arrays in cellular systems is currently being investigated by many researchers. In this paper we show by means of simulation that adaptive antenna arrays allow to reduce the reuse distance, and hence to increase spectrum efficiency. Furthermore, it is shown that, by adopting a fractional loading factor, it is possible to adopt a cluster size equal to 1, which avoids the need of frequency planning altogether, and allows a further improvement in spectrum efficiency Author(s) Frullone, M.
