Abstract
The exploratory behavior of three highly inbred strains of rats was studied. Twenty albino, 20 black, and 18 hooded rats were born and raised under similar environmental conditions. Significant differences in the amount of exploratory behavior were found for the hooded vs. albino and the hooded vs. black groups. These results were interpreted as supporting the hypothesis that exploratory behavior of rats is at least partially determined by genetic factors. Keywords
