A PLATE LOOP METHOD FOR DETERMINING VIABLE COUNTS OF RAW MILK1

Abstract
A plate loop count method for determining viable counts of raw milk has been described. The technique uses a 0.001 ml calibrated loop attached to a continuous volume syringe for rinsing the sample into a standard petridish prior to pouring with agar. Results with this method compare closely with the standard plate count performed simultaneously on the same sample.
