Abstract
A second form of RcsA, a positive activator of the capsular polysaccharide genes (cps), has been identified in Escherichia coli. Ferguson plot analysis suggests that the two RcsA proteins differ by size rather than by charge. Both RcsA proteins are expressed from a single rcsA gene. Detection of both RcsA proteins in delta lon cells is RcsB dependent. Keywords
