Abstract
The leaves of the following plants were tested for protease: tobacco, potato, woody nightshade, tomato, sugar beet, marrow, bryory, cabbage, bean, wheat, cocksfoot (Dactylis glomerata), pineapple, papain. Protease activity is shown by both sap and fiber of the green leaves of the plants examined. This activity is 1 protease in the leaf or of differences between the leaf proteases of different plants. The method of Pope and Stevens (1939) has been modified to allow smaller amts. of amino N to be estimated in the presence of reducing agents. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
