Abstract
To the Editor: A report on the prevalence of antibody to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV, or HTLV-III/LAV) among persons applying to be U.S. military recruits that was published in the July 4, 1986, issue of Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report 1 has been interpreted by some as representing heterosexual transmission of this virus.2 3 4 This assumption has been based on the findings of low ratios of seropositive men to seropositive women among those tested, as well as on the belief that persons who are in certain groups at risk for AIDS, such as intravenous drug users and gay or bisexual men, are . . .Keywords
