Influence of an Inhibitor of 17α-Hydroxylation on the Biosynthesis of Testosterone by Testicular Tissue

Abstract
The compound 3-(6-chloro- 3-methyl,2-indenyl)-pyridine (SU-8000) inhibits the biosynthesis of testosterone by rabbit and dog testis in vitro. In the rabbit the inhibition observed could be accounted for by a specific effect upon 17α-hydroxylation, while in the dog SU-8000 appears to act at more than one point in the biosynthetic pathway to testosterone.
