NEUROTICISM AND “SPECIAL TREATMENT” IN UNIVERSITY EXAMINATIONS

Abstract
Two intakes of first year students (N= 54 andN= 60) were given the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (Eysenck & Eysenck, 1985) soon after arriving at university. Three years later they wrote their final examinations consisting of seven three-hour papers. Results showed that students high on Neuroticism were more likely to write their examinations in the health center or to provide a doctor's note than were students low on Neuroticism. There was no difference in Extraversion, Psychoticism or Lie scale scores in their final grades.
