Abstract
As part of a general screening program for AFP [alpha fetoprotein] in maternal serum in early pregnancy the natural variation of AFP concentrations was studied in maternal serum samples derived from multiple pregnancies during their calculated 14th-24th post-menstrual wk. The results indicate that in general, the level of AFP in maternal serum is significantly increased in multiple pregnancies, and that this may be utilized to identify potentially multiple pregnant women in general pregnant population. Keywords
