Abstract
Since the appointment of the Exploratory Committee on Assessing the Progress of Education by the Carnegie Corporation of New York a number of general articles describing this national education assessment project have been published. Mathematics teachers will be interested, not only in the overall plans and progress of the program, but more particularly with the efforts in the field of mathematics education.
