Abstract
We calculate the disorder-averaged persistent current in a normal metal ring threaded by a magnetic flux in the regime 1≲l/L≲M, where l is the elastic mean free path, L is the circumference of the ring, and M is the number of transverse channels. The calculation is performed for a fixed number of particles. In contrast to one-channel rings, the disorder average over an ensemble of rings containing precisely the same number of electrons leads to a current with periodicity of half a flux quantum. Keywords
