Abstract
The ``Δm=2'' EPR transitions have been observed for the photoexcited triplet states of phenylacetylene, phenylmethylacetylene, phenylethylacetylene, and diphenylacetylene in glasses at 77°K. The reduced zero field parameters D* have been found to be nearly invariant for these molecules (ranging from 0.145–0.152 cm−1). This result is discussed semiquantitatively from two points of view: (1) Hückel MO theory with configuration interaction, and (2) an intramolecular exciton theory. Keywords
