Abstract
We have studied the thermal expansion coefficient α of the bcc Fe–Cr alloys, Fe65Ni35 alloy and ‘‘nonmagnetic Invar’’ Fe5.53Cr93.93Mn0.54 in the temperature range from 4.2–300 K. The magnetic contribution to α for all investigated alloys is obtained. The magnetic contribution to the thermal expansion of Fe65Ni35 and Fe5.53Cr93.93Mn0.54 alloys is found to be identical. The temperature dependence of the magnetic contribution to α of Fe–Cr alloys for the concentration magnetic transition range is shown to have the same behavior. The model is proposed to explain general features of magnetic contribution to α for investigated alloys. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
