Meeting the Challenge of Feeding the World

Abstract
Statistics indicate that world food production is increasing at an annual average rate of about 2%, while the rate of increase of population is about 1.5%. There are great differences between regions. Increase in agricultural production was greatest in technically advanced countries. Countries where food supplies are inadequate must expand non-agricultural as well as agricultural production in order to increase the purchasing power of the population. Large sums are being spent on aid individually or through FAO, WHO and UNICEF. Increased use must be made of modern scientific and technological findings.
