Abstract
The reactions of Nb, Ta, Mo, and W with the gases H2, N2, O2, H2O, CH4, and CO at high temperatures are discussed. Quantitative relations are compiled for the estimation of the minimum gas content attainable in vacuum metallurgical processes of both the degassing time and the metal loss due to oxide evaporation. Keywords
