Abstract
We review the properties of electromagnetic showers in dense media and calculate in detail the associated electromagnetic pulses generated by shower electrons. We perform real-time simulations recording the charge, trajectory, and time of each cascade particle and compute the associated electromagnetic wave. Our results are relevant to experiments detecting radio pulses from showers initiated by cosmic particles interacting with the Earth. Keywords
