Abstract
RECTAL prolapse occurs most commonly in the very young and the very old.1 It is stated to be common in childhood,2 and yet its true incidence is unknown. Our interest in rectal prolapse was aroused in the course of a study of patients with cystic fibrosis of the pancreas. We had been aware of this complaint in patients with cystic fibrosis for a number of years, and of its occasional appearance as the initial complaint.
