Abstract
"This experiment analyzed the effects of stimulus size and proximity upon avoidance responses in the rhesus monkey. Three sizes of complex representational objects were used, and objects were placed inside S's home cage or just outside the cage. Avoidance increased directly with object size and proximity. Familiarity with the objects (either through repeated tests or through pretest exposure of the stimuli) led to virtually complete disappearance of avoidance and gave rise to object contact. The 'fear stimuli' were destroyed by the Ss on the eighth day of the experiment." (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)Keywords
