Abstract
MnSO 4 has three new polymorphs at high pressure. The transition lines have been plotted in the range 300–700°C. CoSO 4 has five new polymorphs in the range to 120 kbar. NiSO 4 has eight polymorphs to 140 kbar. CuSO 4 transforms to a structure whose space group is D 2 h 17 at higher pressures. Powder data are given for this polymorph. A new quenchable high-pressure form of ZnSO 4 was found, and its crystallographic properties were determined. The transition at 740°C in ZnSO 4 was followed to 15 kbar, where it splits into two transitions. Eight new polymorphs of ZnSO 4 were found at pressures to 140 kbar, and the phase boundaries were plotted. The thermal expansion of ZnSO 4 I in the three axial directions was determined in the range 25–660°C.Keywords
