Abstract
Castrated adult male or female rats were given subcut. injns. of various doses of estradiol benzoate in total volume of 0.1 ml. oil daily for 15 days. The hypophyses were then transplanted intra-abdominally into immature hypophysectomized male recipient rats (30-45 g.) The weight of the right testis, removed at the time of implantation, was compared with the wt. of the left testis, removed 7 days later. During the test, 5 I. U. of chorionic gonadotropin were injd. twice daily 0.5 ug. of estradiol benzoate partially decreased the hypophyseal FSH, and 2.5 ug. produced the maximum inhibition in females. The max. effect occurred with 0.12 ug. in male. Keywords
