Abstract
In this comprehensive study of a representative sample of 1960 presidential election newspaper advertising, some interesting points emerge: Republicans spent twice as much money as Democrats, but hoarded 37% of it until the final day; Democrats used pictures more effectively; “Madison Avenue” was ignored.Keywords
