Abstract
The induction of desiccation tolerance in germinated seeds by incubation in PEG for several days is reported. The induction coincided with an increased sucrose content and the formation of heat-soluble proteins. Germinated seeds can serve as a convenient model system in studies of desiccation tolerance. This finding may have important implications for the agricultural industry. Keywords
