Abstract
The postearthquake deformation of a geodetic network which spans the zone of rupture of the 1966 Parkfield earthquake is not pure right-lateral shear as might be expected but rather is primarily an east-west extension. This deformation is consistent with that predicted by a dilatancy model. Keywords
