Abstract
A new Hb variant present in a 22-yr old black female and her father but absent in her mother and 14-yr old brother was described. Neither of the 2 affected members showed evidence of a significant hematological abnormality. Asparaginyl residue in position 19.beta.(B1) was located at the surface of the molecule and did not participate in any of the known contacts (10). Substitution by an aspartyl residue did not seem to have significant clinical consequences, although the functional properties of the variant were not evaluated. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
