Abstract
On August 27, Dr. John R. Steelman, Chairman of the President's Scientific Research Board, presented to the President the first of five volumes of the report entitled “Science and Public Policy”. The first, “A Program for the Notion”, outlined a broad program of research and development. The second and third volumes, “The Federal Research Program” and “Administration for Research”, dealt with the activities of the Government and means for their more effective promotion. The condensation presented here is based on material contained in these first three volumes Volume IV, “Manpower for Research” and Volume V, “The Nation's Medical Research” will be summarized in an early issue of the BULLETIN.Keywords
