Abstract
In this article, we explore some current difficulties for clinicians and lawyers working with children who have serious eating disorders where issues such as their consent to treatment are of central importance. The child's right to consent to or refuse treatment has now been tested in the courts as has the question of the child's level of competence. This proved particularly controversial in the area of eating disorders; the ethical and legal issues raised by such cases are the primary focus of our article. Keywords
