Abstract
Ox-eye daisy (Chrysanthemum leucanthemum), yarrow (Achillea millefolium), common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca) and goldenrod (Solidago spp.) were usually dominant plants in floral populations where they occurred and their sequence in time provided a continuous nectar source for mosquitoes. Their relative attractancy to mosquitoes sometimes changed suddenly and this change appeared to be determined by the age of the flowers. Analysis of mosquito feeding compared to the relative densities of the plants flowering at collection sites revealed that definite preferences existed. A total of 23 species of plants was observed to serve as nectar sources for mosquitoes. Keywords
